International Journal of Management and Business Economics
The International Journal of Management and Business Economics recognizes the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in academic research, scholarly writing, and publishing. The journal permits the responsible and transparent use of AI tools to support research and manuscript preparation, provided that such use does not compromise academic integrity, research ethics, originality, or the reliability of scholarly contributions.
This policy aims to ensure that AI technologies are used ethically and responsibly while maintaining the quality, credibility, and accountability of published research.
Authors may use AI-assisted tools for purposes such as language editing, grammar correction, translation, formatting, and preliminary assistance with data organization or analysis. However, AI tools must not replace the authors' intellectual contributions, critical judgment, or responsibility for the research.
Authors are required to:
Ensure that all information, data, references, quotations, and conclusions presented in their manuscripts are accurate and verifiable.
Carefully review and validate any AI-generated or AI-assisted content before submission.
Disclose the use of generative AI tools when such tools contribute substantively to the development, analysis, interpretation, or writing of the manuscript.
Take full responsibility for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and ethical compliance of their submitted work.
Ensure that AI tools are not used to fabricate or manipulate research data, generate false references, misrepresent findings, or conceal plagiarism.
AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and accountability of scholarly work.
When AI tools have been used substantively in preparing a manuscript, authors must provide a clear disclosure statement in the manuscript, preferably in a dedicated section titled Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies.
The disclosure should identify the AI tool used, its purpose, and the extent of its contribution.
Example:
"During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] for [specific purpose]. All AI-assisted content was reviewed, verified, and revised by the authors, who take full responsibility for the final content of the manuscript."
Routine spelling, grammar checking, and basic language editing may be exempt from disclosure unless otherwise required by the journal or applicable publication standards.
Editors and reviewers must exercise independent professional judgment when evaluating submitted manuscripts. AI tools may only be used in ways consistent with confidentiality, publication ethics, and the journal's editorial procedures.
Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, unpublished research findings, personal information, or other sensitive submission materials to public or third-party AI platforms without appropriate authorization and adequate data protection safeguards.
AI tools must not replace human editorial decisions or peer-review assessments. Editors and reviewers remain fully responsible for their recommendations, evaluations, and decisions.
The journal strictly prohibits the use of AI to support or facilitate:
Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data and results.
Generation of fictitious references, citations, or bibliographic information.
Plagiarism, unattributed copying, or misappropriation of others' intellectual contributions.
Misrepresentation of AI-generated content as independently verified research findings.
Breaches of confidentiality, privacy, copyright, or research ethics.
Manuscripts suspected of violating this policy may be subject to editorial investigation and appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures.
The journal reserves the right to request clarification or additional information regarding the use of AI in a submitted manuscript. Where necessary, authors may be asked to provide relevant explanations concerning the origin, verification, and accuracy of AI-assisted content.
Any editorial action will be based on the nature and severity of the suspected violation, the available evidence, and the journal's applicable publication ethics policies. AI-detection tools, if used, will not serve as the sole basis for determining misconduct.
The International Journal of Management and Business Economics may revise this policy in response to developments in AI technology, scholarly publishing standards, and research ethics guidelines. Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to comply with the policy in effect at the time of manuscript submission or editorial assessment.
By submitting a manuscript to the journal, authors acknowledge their responsibility to use AI technologies transparently, ethically, and in accordance with this policy.
